The Challenge
Defect Identification
Defects such as misalignment can cause cracks and weakness in pipe welds. Pipe inspections take significant time, resources and equipment
Advanced photon counting detectors quickly and easily identify defects, delivering advantages over other DDAs and film through very fast imaging speed, high signal to noise and contrast to noise ratio, and high spatial resolution

Industry Standards
ASME, ASTM, EN ISO
DDAs must meet industry standards. These are measured via phantoms and image quality indicators (IQI), providing assurance for technical safety and contractual agreements
XC-Thor photon counting detectors demonstrate image quality for steel pipe wall thicknesses to prove Class A or Class B delivering to international standards for pipe weld inspection up to 1.2 m outer diameter
Super resolution techniques restore fine image details beyond the physical pixel size (100µm in our detectors) by intelligently re-binning the pixel data to achieve 70µm-80µm - or even 50µm resolution. This is not possible with conventional technology
For small thin-walled pipes super resolution techniques can image to W13
